Falcons OL Ojinnaka Charged

Ojinnaka, a forth-year reserve drafted out of Syracurse in the fifth round of the 2006 NFL draft, was charged with simple battery and is free on bond after being accused of fighting with his wife over his ‘Facebook activity’, according to police.
Ojinnaka’s wife confronted him about contact with a female friend on Facebook which led to him tossing her down some stairs and threw her out of their house in Suwanee, Georgia. According to Ojinnaka his wife began the fight by attempting to stab him with a pen.
Who would want to fight with 6 foot five Quinn at 305 pounds? And what is next for Facebook? The Atlanta Falcons had no further comment – probably the best stance at this point but what would Falcons staff need say about the incident, it’s personal.
Michal Vick’s Laundry List
With there still being so much media coverage on returning hopeful Michal Vick it seems unlickely that his names instant association with dog fighting will cease anytime soon. Much like the recent Alex Rodriguez and steroids.
We are all familiar with the prediciment and what has proceeded up to this point. But NFL, or perhaps purely Michael Vick fans are still anticipating his hopefulreintroduction into the beloved sport of football.
Simply put NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, has strickenly stated that Vick must be “prepared to handle himself differently going forward.”
Details may be scarce and teams interest is likely to be all hush hush, but is any team going to want the smeared name associated with Vick’s past? Reportedly his former team the Atlanta Falcons has open negotiations for a mere seventh-round draft pick.
And does Vick have time for what may already be a laundry list of things he should be doing to show remorce in both the media and leagues eyes for what he has done?
2009: Falcons Become Super Bowl Contenders
In 2008, Matt Ryan broke the mold, becoming a rookie QB who took his team to the playoffs in his first year and lead the Falcons to an 11-5 record during the normal season. Ryan shrugged off some of the most powerful defenses in the NFL, and performed better than many of the most well recognized veteran QBs from around the league. Now as the 2009 season is slated to start in just four months, the Falcons have made some significant moves in the offseason to become true Super Bowl contenders. While Matt Ryan amazed and astounded in 2008, as a Sophomore in 2009, expect him to bring down the house. The main reason Ryan will dominate other teams in 2009 is the addition of TE Tony Gonzalez, a future Hall of Famer and the former franchise face of the Kansas City Chiefs. Tony Gonzalez is 33 years old, but still managed to post over 1,000 yards receiving in 2008, and is more dominant on offense than most WRs. Standing at 6’5 and weighing in at 251 pounds, Gonzalez is big enough to stop a DE and then turn around and catch a pass for a first down.
The Falcons already have Pro Bowl RB Michael Turner, and Pro Bowl WR Roddy White on their offense. With the addition of Gonzalez, the Falcons have a tandem offense with enough explosive power to rival even the receiving core of the Arizona Cardinals with Fitzgerald, Boldin, and Breaston. With a young QB, that offense is even more dangerous. Expect fans wearing their Falcons jerseys featuring Gonzalez on the back with pride as the Atlanta Falcons dominate in ’09.
Michael Vick’s Future Hopes
Michael Vick’s bankruptcy attorney, Michael Blumenthal, has stated that Vick could be moved to a halfway house in Virgina as soon as late January. Visk is now serving 23 months for his part in a dogfighting ring. Last month Vick had pleaded guilty to allow the possibility for early prison relief and possible transition into a halfway house – which does not exactly seem like a search for the truth or justice for those that are in fact guilty though does it?
In all these pleaded charges seem rather light. Unless details are being disclosed in light of his limited involvement, direct release into a half-way house at this point seems unjustified.
