Tim Tebow and every other favorite on the Broncos can be put on a custom jersey from www.onthefield.com
Denver Broncos second-year NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has many members in his fan club, but Merril Hoge is not one of them.
Hoge, a former running back for the Steelers who is now an analyst for ESPN, believes Kyle Orton, not Tebow, should be Denver’s starting quarterback. After watching film of Tebow from his rookie season last year, Hoge expressed his opinion in a series of posts on Twitter Wednesday.
Denver Broncos second-year quarterback Tim Tebow has many members in his fan club, but Merril Hoge is not one of them.
“Sitting watching tape of Broncos offense from last year,” Hoge wrote. “Orton or Tebow? It’s embarrassing to think the Broncos could win with Tebow!”
Hoge disputed the fact that just because Tebow was a star quarterback for Florida who won the Heisman Trophy he could translate that success to the NFL.
“Orton or Tebow? QB play is not just about who works hard, gives rah-rah speeches, or is a good guy. Because Orton works hard and is a good guy as well. It’s about who can play!”
Josh McDaniels Fired!
Josh McDaniels has been fired as a NFL head coach of the Broncos, the team confirmed Monday night, ending McDaniels’ tumultuous run in Denver.
The Broncos announced that running backs coach Eric Studesville would take over McDaniels’ position on an interim basis.
“I am very grateful to Pat Bowlen and the Broncos organization for giving me the opportunity to be the head coach of such a proud franchise,” McDaniels said in a statement released by the team. “I would like to thank all of the people who helped us over the last two years. I am especially appreciative of the efforts of every player, coach and member of the personnel department who worked so hard every day. I wish Pat Bowlen and the Broncos organization nothing but the best in the future.”
McDaniels was rumored to be in trouble for weeks as the Broncos season quickly collapsed. Owner Pat Bowlen’s decision to let McDaniels go comes four games shy of McDaniels’ second full season as coach, and the day after the Broncos were formally eliminated from playoff contention by Sunday’s 10-6 loss at Kansas City.
“My decision to relieve Josh McDaniels as head coach was not taken lightly,” Bowlen said in a statement. “I will always be appreciative of his passion, enthusiasm and hard work, and I thank him for his efforts. In the end, I was not satisfied with the results and the direction this team was headed. The decision to make a change was extremely difficult but one that needed to be made for this organization and our fans.”

Ride the Peaks and the Valleys With Josh McDaniels
In one NFL city, we find the Denver Broncos, who are 3-8 and losers of 16 of 21.
In another NFL city, we find the Chicago Bears, 8-3 and so far
under the radar they don’t even qualify as stealth.
In the middle of both teams: Josh McDaniels. He’s the guy who gutted the Denver Broncos’ roster upon his arrival and sent the team’s one-time franchise quarterback to Chicago. There, Lovie Smith and Jerry Angelo accepted the quarterback and have the opposite record of the dismal Broncos.
Sunday, the Bears beat the mighty Mike — Vick — in Chicago. They did it with defense, especially in the red zone, and with four touchdown passes from Jay Cutler, who would be the guy McDaniels could not wait to get rid of once he took over in Denver.
McDaniels alienated Cutler by first trying to acquire Matt Cassel. So Cutler got into a hissy fit and was traded to the Bears. Then, McDaniels alienated the standout wide receiver, Brandon Marshall, who lasted one season, then was traded to Miami.
In the offseason, McDaniels wanted Brady Quinn from the Browns. He gave Cleveland a couple draft picks and a throw-in running back by the name of Peyton Hillis. Few saw Hillis having the season he’s having in Cleveland, but if anyone could have it would have been McDaniels. He coached Hillis for a season in Denver. Read More >>
Bad Blood In AFC West
Kansas City coach Todd Haley apparently did not appreciate getting blown out by the Broncos. Instead of shaking hands with Josh McDaniels after the Broncos’ 49-29 win, Haley pointed his finger at McDaniels and turned his back, oh NFL drama!
Haley evidently was not pleased that McDaniels kept throwing and blitzing with a comfortable lead.
Nobody likes getting blown out, but Haley should understand that McDaniels learned under Bill Belichick, and as Belichick showed Sunday night in beating Pittsburgh he will never let up. Ever. So nobody should expect McDaniels to let up.

Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos Part Ways
The Denver Broncos announced that they had agreed to a five-year deal with quarterback Tim Tebow, the 25th pick in April’s draft, continuing a recent run of first-round draft pick signings.
Tebow’s deal is worth a max $33 million over five years, and the rookie QB will get $8.7 million guaranteed. It’s a bigger deal than the player picked before him — Dallas receiver Dez Bryant — received, but that isn’t a huge surprise, as there were reports Tebow wanted more money than Bryant because he is a quarterback.
The Denver Broncos traded up into the end of the first round, dealing with Baltimore to acquire the pick they used on Tebow, a four-year star at Florida and one of the draft’s most interesting stories.
With so many questions about his ability to play the quarterback position on an every-down basis in the NFL, it was a surprise to some that Tebow was selected in the first round. Read More >>
Denver Broncos Make Surprising Pick in 2009 Draft
With their #12 pick in the 2009 NFL draft, the Denver Broncos elect to draft Knowshon Moreno, regarded as the top RB in the nation. It was a stunning move because most critics expected Denver to address their needs on defense. In addition, because of the Jay Cutler trade, the Broncos still remain without a solid QB to run their offense. It’s hard to know why the Broncos elected to draft Moreno, though in terms of skill at RB, Moreno was second to none in the draft. Some speculate that Denver went after Moreno to prevent another team from drafting him, which is a more than odd justification. Others speculate that the Broncos drafted Moreno first because without a starting QB, a solid RB will be able to make progress down the field even if the QB can’t throw the ball. It’s unclear what Denver had in mind, but fans will watch their 2009 season with great interest.
Despite selecting Moreno first, Denver made some solid picks later in the first round and in the second round of the draft. The Broncos nabbed Robert Ayers, Alphonso Smith, and Darcel McBath who will make some solid additions to the Broncos defense. But most fans seem to be more excited about seeing Moreno on Broncos jerseys in the coming months.
Can Two Broncos Settle What’s What?
Jay Cutler may have came across wrong in appearing to want to have input in recent decisions made by Broncos’ administration and as a quarterback, a barely above average quarterback at that, it just would not be his place.
Many reports of recent incidents place the numbers at the forefront of this argument against Cutler’s actions stating that his stats as a starter for the Denver Broncos speak for themselves. These past three years he as achieved a record of 17-20 with 54 TDs with 37 interceptions leaving him with a passer rating of just 87.1.
Cutler, who turns 26 next month still has much to learn and being humble is something that very well could benefit this hopeful prodigy. But Cutler may be misrepresented in these recent occurrences by media.
Former NFL quarterback turned CBS analyst, Rich Gannon recently added his thoughts on Cutler, “He’s one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league. Is he a top five guy? Probably not.”
It started with Cutler’s disagrement in firing once head coach of the Broncos Mike Shanahan. This can certainly create some unease. Cutler was then reportedly told that the entire offensive staff would stay intact, yet Jeremy Bates was later released as well.
Broncos head coach, Josh McDaniels, later stated, “I don’t recall having that conversation with Jay.”
NFL Coaching Purge, No One is Safe
After the Lions, Jets and Browns all fire their head coaches most probably assumed that the blunt of the finger pointing had completed and apparently came as a shock for some teammates.

“I don’t think any of us saw this coming,” linebacker Spencer Larsen explained.
But after years of relieved coordinators – Greg Robinson, Ray Rhodes, Larry Coyer and Jim Bates – the finger eventually was going to get pointed at the decision maker of the team. Shanahan makes all the personnel decisions and ever since the Elway and combination of Terrell Davis things haven’t been the same for this Denver team.
But where does this leave the Denver Broncos? This case is probably much like an other franchises, whom usually refer to this decision as a rebuilding stage for the team. Only reaffirmed by owner Pat Bowlen had these words to reflect his decision, “After giving this careful consideration, I have concluded that a change in our football operations is in the best interests of the Denver Broncos.”
Jake Plummer Rekindling his Passion
It is rare to find something that truly brings back the passion and love you once had for a sport. For Jake Plummer former NFL quarterback for the Denver Broncos shocked fans when he retired in 2007. A decision that he made due to the constant diet of anti-inflammatories and aching back and knee injuries he sustained during his role as a superstar quarterback.
Now Jake finds solice in playing and promoting his long lost love for handball, a niche sport passed down to him by his father. His competative nature still comes out as he stives to improve his game, but now his determination is to improve is solely for personal aspiration.
