Richard Seymour Looking for What Right For Him

Richard Seymour holds out on OaklandThe Raiders have raised the question as to whether or not they made the right decision in picking up Richard Seymour formerly of the New England Patriots. It is yet to be seen why the Patriots would cast off a star NFL player, as they only picked up to pay top dollar for a first round draft pick. Perhaps merely a bargaining chip for a deal later to be determined.

At this pint Patriots head coach Bill Belichick only had positive things to say about Seymour even in the wake of his trade. Yet when asked about his failure to report to Raiders practice, “Because we don’t have rights to Richard, there really isn’t anything I can say about him or his situation,” Belichick said Tuesday. “So I’ll have to pass on those questions at this time.”

“From nearly the day he arrived in 2001, Richard Seymour established himself as one of our premier players for nearly a decade,” Belichick said then. “His presence has been felt as a force on the field, a respected man off it and a multi-year champion.”

Raiders Getting Raided, Again.

Raiders Coaches Fight FootballOnce again the internet’s abuzz with rumors about the Oakland Raiders coaches fight on August 5 at their training camp in Napa, California. Usually it’s the players but it looks like their devoted leaders have come down to slugging it out instead. According to news reports, Oakland Raiders’ assistant coach Randy Hanson (pictured at right) was struck by Raiders’ head coach Tom Cable (pictured at left) suffering a broken jaw. Head coach Cable faces felony charges if the allegations turn out to be true.

The case was initially closed as Randy Hanson was unwilling to cooperate with police. But following his dismissal by the teams’ owner, Mr. Hanson had a sudden change of heart. Given three alternatives to being assistant coach, Hanson chose none of them and instead elected to hire an attorney. In addition, Hanson’s attorney claims the medical records will indicate that Hanson suffered the broken jaw as a result of the altercation with head coach Cable.

One thing you can never say about the NFL is that it’s boring. First it’s the players with their multitude of misdeeds and now we even have the coaches trying to kill each other. I wonder what’s next? I imagine something akin to Celebrity Deathmatch, where team owners slug it out in a UFC style free-for-all to see who’s “right.” Way to go Tom Cable. Our word of the day: “Self-restraint.”

Oakland Selects Heyward-Bey Over Crabtree

Oakland Selects Heyward-Bey Over Crabtree

One of the most surprising picks in the 2009 draft was Oakland’s selection of Darius Heyward-Bey over other top rated receivers with their #7 pick.  Critics around the NFL scratched their heads as Oakland selected Heyward-Bey over Michael Crabtree and Jeremy Maclin; the two wide receivers thought to be the best available in the draft.  Heyward-Bey, despite not having the experience or numbers of the other two receivers, does have one solid attribute: speed.  Darius ran the 40-yard dash at a time just above 4.2 seconds, which was the fastest at the scouting combine.  The Raiders believe that Heyward-Bey is their man because he will be able to outrun the defense and allow JaMarcus Russell, the Raider’s QB, to utilize his rocket arm.

However, fans in Oakland and around the NFL are wondering if the Raiders made a mistake with not selecting the more solidified WR in Michael Crabtree, who most believed would go first in the draft.  Time will tell whether fans will be wearing their Heyward-Bey Oakland Raiders jerseys with pride, or looking over to San Francisco on the other side of the bay and wondering why their Raiders jerseys don’t say Crabtree.

An Ejected Raiders Fan Plea

Tim McGrawAfter looking into the story of a Oakland Raiders fan that was unjustly ejected from Buccaneers, Raymond James Stadium. In following the buzz that has risen which is chalk full of comments on both sides of this issue, it is apparent that the truth may never be revealed. But in a day and time were seems to be no loyalty would it be good to see away fans getting due course when trying to come into a home town stadium?

With that said it should be said that the jokes could and shoudl remain tasteful. Who seriously expects to go into a home town and not get guff. Stay at home, root with no recourse.

With regards to Raiders fan steve I take this story with a grain of salt but we have covered recent news that revealed event staff does not have specific steps that they need to abide by when ejecting fans from a game. As many of you may have noticed in most private establishments businesses have the right to refuse admittence or continued attendance.

All in all we have seen the recourse in other fans or even players becoming involved in fan affairs so it is probably best taht event staff hold the responsibility. Whether or not the process is going to be fair is another matter. But things could have been worse for this hapless fan. He was lucky Tim McGraw wasn’t near.
