Can Donovan McNabb Step up?
“Sometimes you have to step back to step forward in a positive way and Donovan will do that,” coach Andy Reid said in a positive light after benching Donovan McNabb half way through Sundays loss to the Baltimore Ravens.

“This has nothing to do with Kolb’s performance or Donovan’s performance.” he reaffirmed. McNabb will remain the starter, for now, and when the Philadelphia Eagles host the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night it will be the beginning of what coach Reid hopes to be a posative step forward.
The Eagles are again on the verge of missing hte playoffs for the third time since losing the 2005 super bowl and despite McNabb remaining the starting quarterback, Reid felt that at the time second-year pro Kevin Kolb appeared a better option after a dismal half for McNabb even though they only trailed 10-7 and ultimetly losing 36-7. I am sure that numbers don’t show that the decision paid off but time will tell as a coaches decisions always reflectdirectly on their apparent abilities, whether good or bad.
Coming to Terms with NFL Betting
All stemming from the final ruling of the Pittsburgh Steelers-San Diego Chargers game that kept the Steelers from covering the 5 point spread which, according to R.J. Bell of the Web site PreGame.com, resulted in an estimated $64 million swing in “payouts” across the country.
This even grabbed the attention of Bob Costas enough to make a brief allusion to the potential financial sway from the ref’s ruling. With so much chatter and posting across the country the elephant could no longer be ignored which is gambling on NFL games. Even other interests such as fantasy football or a friendly bet with colleagues at work would have brought controversy along with this call.
Like it or not gambling on football is rearing its ugly head.
NFC West Division Title Now out of Seahawks Reach
With Matt Hasselbeck and Deion Branch both back this Sundays game against the Arizona Cardinals had a glint of hope for the start of the turn around of the 2008 season.

Although they were down early the Seahawks made a fight back from their 19 point deficit with just a go ahead touch down to place them above the Cardinals for the first time all game. After making a comeback with 20 points scored all on Arizona turnovers the Seahawks seemed to have enough time to make a triumphant comeback. With two opportunities in the fourth quarter, one with 5:38 left in the game and the other at 2:05 but Matt Hasselbeck was unable to make anything transpire and threw an interception to end all hope for this game.
For the first half of the game Cardinals quarterback, Kurt Warner and his Boldin, Fitzgeraldreceiver receiver combination seemed unstoppable for the Seahawks seconfary. The Seahawks were able to capitalize on a couple key plays to get back into the game including a Wilson interception which led to the start of their comeback. Overall Hasselbeck gained his composure after his first half back from injuries and should Seattle be able to establish a running game things could pick up as the rest of the season unravels for this struggling team.
How Does John Madden Fit into the Equation?
More importantly perhaps, where is John Madden?
A class-action lawsuit filed in 2007 against EA and the Madden line of video games for previous versions of Madden that featured about 570 players without compensation. Not that Madden was aware of this or should be help accountable but the suit does include a number of players he has associated with throughout his career including a number of Oakland Raiders like Ken Stabler, Jim Otto, Dave Casper and Ben Davidson.
Some players have voiced their discust should Madden have been made or been aware of the situation that are a part of the pending suit but this is not a issue that directly relates to John Madden. Notably and ultimetly it is the responsibility of the late Gene Upshaw’s union and endorsments made through the NFL Players assosiation. At some point EA Sports is going to fit in the pitcure somehow with elegegid prehand knowledge of this issue. So was Madden just staying silent?
Retired John Lynch Will Be Remembered
Monday Marked the official retirement of hard hitting safety John Lynch. Lynch decided to retire a nine time Pro Bowler playing for both the Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers and finishing his career with 1,277 tackles, 100 catch preventions and 26 interceptions in 224 regular-season games.
“Just everything you’d want in a player,” Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said Friday after hearing about Lynch’s retirement. “He set an example on how to be a pro.” Lynch had made a name for himself and set a price for coming into the middle of the field. He will undoubtedly be missed for the tone he set and standards as a Pro.
Even after his 11 year carear seemed to be over with the Buccanneers including a 2002 Super Bowl championship Lynch landed in Denver and accomplished four more Pro Bowl appearances and finally an AFC championship loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
After departing from the Broncos and cut from the Patriots Lynch is leaving the game behind.
Randy Moss Comes Through
During the Patriots – Jets game seconds remaining on the clock New England fans everywhere had to be going nuts as Patriots quarterback Matt Cassel hooked up with receiver Randy Moss with an incredibly composed throw after scrambling to get away from pursuing tacklers. With two feet planted and maintenance of possession a great receiver like Moss came through in fine fashion with one second left on the clock.
Despite this great effort Favre led his New York Jets down the field and into field goal range where they successfully triumphed in both their 34-31 victory over the Patriots but also atop the AFC East.
Jake Plummer Rekindling his Passion
It is rare to find something that truly brings back the passion and love you once had for a sport. For Jake Plummer former NFL quarterback for the Denver Broncos shocked fans when he retired in 2007. A decision that he made due to the constant diet of anti-inflammatories and aching back and knee injuries he sustained during his role as a superstar quarterback.
Now Jake finds solice in playing and promoting his long lost love for handball, a niche sport passed down to him by his father. His competative nature still comes out as he stives to improve his game, but now his determination is to improve is solely for personal aspiration.
Michael Vick’s Imminent? Return
A man with a plan and some determination. Word was released on the not yet free Michael Vick and his plan to return to the NFL.

Statements were also made by Vicks Bankruptcy attorney laying out the intention of paying creditors with money not yet earned, “The Debtor has every reason to believe that upon his release, he will be reinstated into the NFL, resume his career and be able to earn a substantial living.”
Since his conviction the once highest paid player now has assets of $16 mollion and liabilities of $20.4 during which he accumulated vehicles, properties, businesses and supported extended family. Motions are set with a propsed plan on how he is going to pay for his debt but it is all dependent on his return to the NFL while still facing two state felony count. Not to mention a maximum prison sentence of 10 years which is also weighing on the hope of a pleaded deal with a suspended sentence and probation.
Football jerseys

Football is the all-time American sport. It’s such a thrilling game to watch, and even though I am just a spectator, I can’t help but feel like I’m playing the game. I don’t have a favorite team and I believe every team deserves to win.
Like any other sport, it is always anybody’s ball game that is why it has gotten me hooked on watching until the last minute of every game. I’ve even started collecting football jerseys. When I get lucky I watch the games live. Watching a live game gives me an ultimate high.
Custom college jerseys
Sports teams are an important part of college life. They unite the student body and they keep the school’s spirit alive and kicking. Sports are also a way for each college to develop a sense of camaraderie, not just within their own student bodies, but with other colleges as well.
Competitions must always be fair and friendly. Of course the desire to win will always be there, and the students will go all out to support their team by wearing custom college jerseys. However, players must never forget that it’s not the winning that matters but how you played the game.
