NFL Coaching Purge, No One is Safe
After the Lions, Jets and Browns all fire their head coaches most probably assumed that the blunt of the finger pointing had completed and apparently came as a shock for some teammates.

“I don’t think any of us saw this coming,” linebackerĀ Spencer Larsen explained.
But after years of relieved coordinators – Greg Robinson, Ray Rhodes, Larry Coyer and Jim Bates – the finger eventually was going to get pointed at the decision maker of the team. Shanahan makes all the personnel decisions and ever since the Elway and combination of Terrell Davis things haven’t been the same for this Denver team.
But where does this leave the Denver Broncos? This case is probably much like an other franchises, whom usually refer to this decision as a rebuilding stage for the team. Only reaffirmed by owner Pat Bowlen had these words to reflect his decision, “After giving this careful consideration, I have concluded that a change in our football operations is in the best interests of the Denver Broncos.”
An Ejected Raiders Fan Plea
After looking into the story of a Oakland Raiders fan that was unjustly ejected from Buccaneers, Raymond James Stadium. In following the buzz that has risen which is chalk full of comments on both sides of this issue, it is apparent that the truth may never be revealed. But in a day and time were seems to be no loyalty would it be good to see away fans getting due course when trying to come into a home town stadium?
With that said it should be said that the jokes could and shoudl remain tasteful. Who seriously expects to go into a home town and not get guff. Stay at home, root with no recourse.
With regards to Raiders fan steve I take this story with a grain of salt but we have covered recent news that revealed event staff does not have specific steps that they need to abide by when ejecting fans from a game. As many of you may have noticed in most private establishments businesses have the right to refuse admittence or continued attendance.
All in all we have seen the recourse in other fans or even players becoming involved in fan affairs so it is probably best taht event staff hold the responsibility. Whether or not the process is going to be fair is another matter. But things could have been worse for this hapless fan. He was lucky Tim McGraw wasn’t near.
Renamed the ‘No Fun League’
As comments continue to stem across social media platforms the NFL is commonly being referred to as the No Fun League for commonly penalizing and fining players for simple celebrations. In a time where so much is at stake including the NFL it would be wise to take heed of what fans feel about some seemingly ridiculous rules and may be losing fans by taking the fun out of the league and their beloved sport.
The way basketball players act like pre-medona’s – drawing fouls, is a solid example of why basketball loses my interest in comparison to the hard hitting sport of football.
The recent fining of Wes Welker of the New England Patriots being fined $10,000 for making a “snow angel” commonly referred to as unsportsmanlike conduct, after a touchdown on Sunday is just another way the NFL is taking the fun out of the sport we all love.
Narc Unruly Football Fans Via Text
Have an issue with unruly fans? text a stadium has a solution to this ongoing problem. Or is it a solution? As pointed out by Chris Chase’s Tattletales article this seems to be more of a way to create the idea of a solution to the issue and less about taking actual steps that may prevent rude behavior like curbing alcohol sales or hiring more security. These types of measures for example would cut the bottom line in a struggling NFL market, revenue.
So far the best Narc number of the 29 out of 32 stadiums offering the texting service belongs to the Cincinnati Bengals stadium who are informed to text 513-381-JERK.
It will be interesting to watch and see security runs around like a chicken with their head cutoff relying on fan feedback on where they should determine offensive behavior. After all the die hard fans are not as important as offending the once a year visitor. And what will determine offensive behavior? Better watch your P’s and Q’s as you would not want to offend your pretentious neighbor.
Cleveland Browns Code of Conduct
The Cleveland Browns laid down a code of conduct with regards to fan behavior as a part of a league-wide crackdown. Fans complain about foul language, fan on fan harassment – oh boy, and other inappropriate incidents associated with being rowdy.
“if you want the X-rated stuff, go somewhere else.” said the NFL’s vice president of security, Milt Ahlerich.
At the Browns Stadium in particular the number ejections and arrests have tripled compared to just a year ago stemming from the decision of staff not having to warn misbehaving fans. Later letters are sent heading a notice that ticket-holders are responsible for whom ever sits in their seat and their season tickets could be revoked.
Recession Cancels the AFL 2009 Season
As of right now decisions are still in the air but it appears that the AFC like many other sports, is not recession proof. For now the most we may hope for the AFC is that it will continue the 2009 season with an abbreviated schedule as decisions about future operations are completed. Other leagues including the NFL, NBA, and NASCAR have already experienced these tough economical times.
Re-orgonize the way it is spending money by centraizing aspects that individual teams are handling such as workers compensation and business operations which include marketing, sponsorships and ticket sales under the AFL’s structure. Even the thought of revenue based salaries for players is potential for the future of Arena Football.
After weeks of delay the league’s decision to indefinitely delayed the start of the free agency and release of the 2009 schedule. Even after the resignation of commissioner David Baker in July, bu tthe basic problems seem to stem more from years of neglecting the AFL’s basic structure.
Michael Vick’s Future Hopes
Michael Vick’s bankruptcy attorney, Michael Blumenthal, has stated that Vick could be moved to a halfway house in Virgina as soon as late January. Visk is now serving 23 months for his part in a dogfighting ring. Last month Vick had pleaded guilty to allow the possibility for early prison relief and possible transition into a halfway house – which does not exactly seem like a search for the truth or justice for those that are in fact guilty though does it?
In all these pleaded charges seem rather light. Unless details are being disclosed in light of his limited involvement, direct release into a half-way house at this point seems unjustified.
