The Seattle Mariners Surge
Seattle is currently in line to being teh single most improved team since last season.
With what turned into a rechid 61-101 record seattle is currently on pace to win an upward of 83 games.
The Mariners have finally turned a lacking team into a team that puts forth solid pitching and clutch pitching. A hot ‘American League’ team that has won their last 13-17 MLB appearances, all of the while doing so with minuscule offense with a total of 32 games decided by just one run.
But the solid pitching is everything this Mariners team has needed in over a decade. Any other winning Mariners season always hevily relied on offense and usually failed to result in solid defense.
However the most recent loss to the Oriolesis creates no reason for the Seattle Mariners panic.
“I think this was probably one of the better team wins we’ve had all year, simply from the standpoint of a great effort by everybody, we played all 27 outs again, and guys were real calm about their approach,” said Dave Trembley.

I really hope we find somebody to step up, because I foolishly have my hopes up that we can surprise some people and win the AL West this year. Losing Beltre for two months is a big blow, especially during a tough stretch on the road like this one. I love the way the right side of the infield is playing, but with Yuni on the DL and Beltre headed there, we need good arms and solid bats. I’d like to see Woodward see some time at third, and Cedeno at short, if he can get his average up. If we finish this road trip 5-4, I will be thrilled. Hopefully we see Seattle near, if not at the top of the division by the All-Star break. Big series with Texas heading into the break, too!

“They’re the hottest team in baseball,” Dodgers Manager Joe Torre said of the Rockies. “We played them early and we had good luck with them. Tomorrow night we start from scratch and go out here and try to right our ship. The best way to do that is to come out and control the game pitching-wise.”
