Tom Glavine makes a Pitchless DecisionTom Glavine makes a hard decision but is not ready to announce his retirement from the game of baseball saying that at this point he will “evaluate things at the end of the season.”

“I’m not going to pitch or do anything in baseball until at least next year.”

With the advent of his off-season surgery and not being able to contribute as much as he once had wit the Atlanta Braves pitching staff, Glavine was released on June 3rd for what he believes are financial reasons which would specifically violate the MLB collective bargaining agreement.

“I don’t believe for a minute that it was totally a performance-related issue, which I’m totally fine with, but I would have appreciated the honesty.”

What has transpired for the Two-time Cy Young winner may have left a bad taste in his mouth especially after all he has accomplished and done with the Braves. A career that includes his first 16 seasons pitching for the Atlanta Braves while accomplishing five 20-win seasons as well as the clinching victory for the Braves in the 1995 World Series against the Cleveland Indians.

For now Glavine said, “It’s going to take a lot to get me away from that. I enjoy going to my kids’ hockey games and ball games and all that other stuff. On the one hand, I’m kinda looking forward to having a summer for the first time in 25 years. It’s just not the way I envisioned doing it.”
