Having been a first-round draft choice in 1990 Cortez spent the entirety of his NFL career with the Seattle Seahawks, a rarity among players. Cortez has already been elected into the Seahawks Ring of Honor in 2006 as well as the University of Miami’s Ring of Honor this last year.

“Thrilled… and humbled” Kennedy Said. “It’s one of those things you want to happen, but can’t really believe it ever will.”

Of the 17 finalists at least four memebers will be included, with no more then seven elected. The 2009 Hall of Fame class will be elected by at least an 80 percent positive vote for each member from a 44 person comittee. And there couldn’t be a better fit for one of this years elected members after being called by the selection committee with great suprise.

“I can’t believe I’m even being considered for the Hall of Fame,” Kennedy said. “It’s enough just to have my name on the list.”Elections will be held in Florida, Jan. 31 - the day before the super bowl.
