Holmgren’s Future In Football Remains Hopeful
It appears that in some fashion Holmgren may be looking for a potential return to football, hopefully the Seattle Seahawks. However given the current circumstances it may not be practical with Tim Ruskell still the general manager.
“Right now, it would be pretty hard to say that. However, I will say this. We love Seattle. Seattle is our home. We are always going to have a home there…[it] would be a nice thing if I could come back in some capacity and work for the club, but right now they are pretty much set and they are going to have a good season.”
Holmgren was mostly forced into quiting given his circumstances and lack of control over the roster despite after loosing the general manager duties in 2002 and ultimetly what became control of the Seahawks roster. Looking back Holmgren had stated that he panned on taking the next year off, but never referred to his departure as retirement.
Holmgren is confident in his return, “[I'll] take the year off and after next season is over, I plan to go back to work, but where and in what capacity, that is really pretty vague. I don’t know.”
With so many changes happening right now in footbal, even outside of the NFL, there are a slew of possibilities for the aspiring leader.
“I don’t think I realized until he stopped coaching how much a part of him it really was,” she said. “I’m warming to the idea just a little bit that he’ll be back doing something. Something in sports.”
