Ochocinco Doesn’t Do Modest

Ochocinco Doesn’t Do ModestBengals Chad Johnson somehow convinced the NFL to agree to allow the player to wear his nickname on the back of his NFL jersey this season. However this was not enough for the player as he now has it exactly as he wanted it printed on his jersey – Ochocinco as apposed to the former Ocho Cinco.

The payer took the nickname as far as ledally changing his name back in Aug. and asked the league and media to call him Chad Ocho Cinco stemming from his number 85 jersey.

The correction comes from the way his name was written during the legal name change Ochocinco.

Perhaps this will catapult the NFL into even more of a mockery with nicknames of all sorts plastering the league into a mockery style media show.

Already causing some alarm to the reference he made about how his and NFL teammate Carson Palmer relationship is going to improve this year, “I know people are trying to say we’re mad at each other and all that, but we’re good. We’re like Brokeback Mountain,” he continues on his quest to show boat his way through a career. But I guess some people are just there to make an ass of themselves, for entertainment sake.

Ochocinco had a lot to say about what has been going on and like anyone, Chad wants to be liked. Finding out that the Bengals may have been the only team that would put up with him may have awakened him, if only for the immediate future.

“People are going to talk and have their perceptions, but really there’s only one person that matters, his last name is Brown and his first name is Mike,” Ochocinco said, referring to the Bengals owner. “So when he comes from upstairs and tells me, ‘Chad you’re a distraction,’ then I’ll stop.”

But his career has been one prank after another, like a little kid trying to test their boundries more then just crossing the line every once in a while from the touchdown dances to his most recent facial tattoo stunt. None of which is a big deal but even a finger pointed at someone when they need to wise up is a finger pointing attention in his direction.

Even former teammate, previously Cincinnati Bengals center, Center Eric Ghiaciuc felt the need to voice what it’s like to have that unneeded attention, “As much as you try to focus on football with your day-to-day routine of meetings, lifting, walkthroughs, practices, games, you can focus but it’s still there. It’s like when you turn your head, it’s still behind you. I think we were doing our best to focus on what needed to be focused on in our profession, but it was there and it was a bit of a problem.”

But Ochocinco thinks that things have changed for him currently and is hopeful towards the progress leading into this upcoming season, “I really don’t think I’ve been a distraction anyway. The word cancer has come up a lot. I haven’t been a cancer. No one in here has a problem with me. You guys know that. I’m a likeable person, I’m a loveable person. I might go across the edge every now and then, you know that’s it, but I always come back. Last year was very humbling and embarrassing for myself and I’m able to say that.”
