HS Coach Charged for Heat Stroke Death

An associated press article released today indicates that a High School football coach was charged yesterday with reckless homicide due to his involvement in the death of a football player. Due to his lack of realization that something could have occurred and did the Kentucky high school coach David Jason Stinson was indicted by a grand jury in the death of Pleasure Ridge Park offensive lineman Max Gilpin.
It was reported that during an Aug 20th practice directed by Stinson heat index had reached 94 degrees when the 15 year old sophomore collapsed due to heat exposure. Authorities said that the sophomore had a temperature of 107 degrees by the time he made it to the hospital. And died just three days later.
Stinson’s actions were not found intentional or malicious, said Jefferson County Commonwealth’s Attorney Dave Stengel, but “a reasonable man should have realized something like this could have occurred.”
