Yankees Wang Out Progress
With a clutch two run homer the Yankees rally to beat the rangers at a time when Chien-Ming Wang needed it most in his return to the Yankees pitching rotation.
After a solid start Wang began giving up runs in both the third and forth, as well as the fifth innings. Not necessarily an impressive start by any means but his return to the starting MLB lineup looks promising and allowed for the rangers to come together and show composure on the offensive side of the ball.
With trouble fooling batter when throwing his sinker into the mix. Having surrendered five runs on just seven hits in 4 2/3 innings Wang left the game early trailing 5-1. Yet the Yankees rallied into a 8-6 victory.
“I thought he pitched better than his numbers indicated,” New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi said after the game. “I’m not making excuses. I was happy with what I saw. I know people are going to say, oh boy he gave up five runs.’”
Although excited to get back in the rotation Wang will look to some minor adjustments that need to be made in order to solidify his pitching repertoire. But overall with 69 pitches, 47 of which were strikes, accomplishing 5 K’s with only one walk it is the start of things to come should Wang continue to gather his composure.
