It is time for the Steroid scandal to be put in the past. With players Alex Rodriguez and Sammy Sosa having been released as having tested positive for steroids 6 seasons ago it may make sense to once and for all call to light the remaining confidentially held names and move forward for the sake of the Major League Baseball.

sammy sosa steroid use leaked

In the best interest of baseball the MLB commissioner’s office may have to release the dirty little secret once and  for all. But a contractual promise such as the confidential list retained from the 2003 season may cause a domino effect across the sport. It is a simple fact that steroids has branded the sport of baseball because of the way it has been handled.

Still fighting allegations that he had taken performance enhancing drugs, Sammy Sosa, awaits  the congressional committee and its investigation into the matter of perjury.

Sosa told the House Government Reform Committee, On March 17, 2005, “I have never injected myself or had anyone inject me with anything. I have not broken the laws of the United States or the laws of the Dominican Republic. I have been tested as recently as 2004, and I am clean.”

Somehow in light of everything that has been continually leaked, uncovered or otherwise it comes as no suprise that the MLB somehow created an environment where performance enhancing drugs flourished.

In a vain attempt these leaks seem more and more like an attempt to place the media attention and blame on the players as leaked information continues to lead to possible federal prosecution. In the case of Sosa’s recent allegations, he is caught between the possibility ofhaving lied to Congress regarding his steroid use and wether or not he may have done so because of the MLB players’ union contractual agreement of anonymity.

No one seems to be pointing out whether or not the MLB should be able to create such a contract where illegal substances can be kept secret outside of the law, yet the MLB sees the leaks as unethical and unlawful. I just thank th etesting facilities for destroying the samples taken from players as this day and age you may very well find one of the players urine sample leaked on eBay – pun intended.

The MLB, its players, and team management all have accountability for these occurances and until we uphold our or our kids admirers to any kind of a standard we cannot be suprised to find so many other negative influences in that affect the decisions in our lives.
