Red Sox Family

With the exception of my mother who grew up in Philadelphia rooting for the Phillies, we are a Red Sox family. We tune into all the games either on television, radio, or online. My brother studies up on the players; it’s pretty amusing to see him get all worked up over perceived “bad calls” the manager makes. Last year before his birthday I was in Boston so I picked him up a new Red Sox baseball cap and t-shirt. This year I wanted to do something special, so I bought us matching personalized MLB jerseys.

Rather than surprising my brother with the personalized MLB jerseys, I let him pick what he wanted on the back. He ended up choosing Dice K because despite having a rough 2009 season, Matsuzaka started to pull it together toward the end of the 2010 season. My brother is hoping that 2011 is the year Matsuzaka returns to form, possibly doing better than his 2008 season. I chose just to put our last name on the back of my jersey. I feel it will last me longer; I won’t feel foolish wearing a player’s name who might later betray the team (I’m looking at you Johnny Damon).
